Shafer trail is an awesome and easy to drive dirt road in Canyonlands National Park North (Island in the sky). The trail is a dirt road that switchbacks down (or up) a 1500' cliff. Numerous turns wind down the cliffside on a fairly good dirt road with some of the most amazing views in the Moab area.
If you start the road from inside Canyonlands National Park, it is a fairly well maintained dirt road suitable for most vehicles. If you enter from the Potash Road side, there is some mild 4x4 trail to get to the switchbacks.
Viewpoint at Start of Trail in Canyonlands Starting point from the top inside Canyonlands (National Park admission required). Passenger vehicles will need to go down then go back up. (Read reviews on the link)
